baby kiri

This is Kiri.
Kiri got her first mini photoshoot,
and I describe my process (along with other pictures) in this post!

To the right you'll see a digital raw file (with text overlay to make my describing this easier!) that was a practice shot before my sister and niece came over to my house to say hi!

This was my first time seeing baby Kiri Love, and her mom told me that Kiri really hadn't been out much yet. Kiri is 3 weeks old in these pictures and apparently loves to pretend to sleep for others! I'm not sure whether it was a good or bad thing that Kiri seemed to want to show me all her true colors, but I did manage to capture a few good pictures.

Mom and me had a hard time getting Kiri to want to cooperate, but here's the process!

If you don't have much around the house like me, remember that you'd be surprised at what you can use! I pulled a small green ottoman near our living room windows and propped a mirror up behind it. We have a few panels of sheer white curtains that I can't put up yet...so I tossed them on the mirror and ottoman to create a seamless white background.

I started with a flash and a few reflectors but as the sun was going down (told you Kiri was being difficult!) my lighting was a bit too harsh on her. Eventually I shut my flash off and took a few more natural pictures.

Don't forget one of the most important things with photography: post-process!! I brought Kiri's adorable face to light with a few blending techniques for the fabric to create a more cloud-like atmosphere.
